Opening Water
Water: a clear, still pool to touch
Look down into a shallow pool. Your finger pushes the water aside, so slow strokes make bow waves and quick swipes leave a V-shaped wake, while sunlight dances across the floor below.
How to play
- Drag through the water to make ripples and wakes.
- Tap for a single drop.
- Turn on Rain for a gentle shower.
- Choose the Pebble pool, Tile pool, Night pool or Lagoon.
- Press Calm water to smooth the surface. On a phone, tilt it to slosh the water.
Questions
- How does the water look so real?
- A wave simulation runs on your graphics card, and sunlight is traced through the moving surface onto the floor, the same idea as Evan Wallace’s WebGL Water.
- Is Water free?
- Yes. Water is free to play in your browser, with no ads, no sign-up and nothing to buy.
- Does Water work on a phone?
- Yes. It works with touch on phones and tablets and with a mouse or trackpad on a computer, in any recent browser with WebGL 2.
