Opening Marble
Marble: a glass marble in a wooden tray
One marble in a shallow tray. Tip your phone and it rolls downhill, gathers speed, bumps softly off the edges and spins as it goes. Hold the phone still and it settles.
How to play
- Tilt your phone to roll the marble. On an iPhone, tap the tray first so it can feel the tilt.
- On a computer, drag anywhere to tilt the tray, or hold the arrow keys.
- Press Level to make however you are holding the phone count as flat.
- Pick a tray: Walnut, Felt, Slate or Maple, each with its own marble.
- Turn on sound for a soft rolling rumble and a click off the edges.
Questions
- Why does the marble stay put when I hold the phone almost flat?
- A real marble needs a little slope to get going, because it and the tray both give a tiny bit where they touch. This one works the same way, so small wobbles of your hand leave it resting.
